Next-Gen Wiring - A thing of beauty!

Even though teardrop trailers are small in size, they increasingly support more and more advanced electronics and appliances and High Camp teardrops are no exception. Over the years we have developed a robust electrical architecture to distribute DC power to house lights, outlets, fans, running lights and refrigeration and heating units. Primary components include a high-capacity LiFePo4 Lithium battery, AC/DC “shore-power” charger and DC/DC converter for charging from the tow vehicle alternator. Finally, the design accommodates 110-volt outlets, a battery monitor and battery kill switch.

This is all to say that a small trailer’s wiring can end up looking like quite a mess of wire bundles and zip ties, making future serviceability and upgrading a challenge at best. Following our guiding principle of continuous improvement, we reimagined and then redesigned our entire battery compartment for optimal clarity, installation ease and serviceability by installing all of our DC circuits in individual holding grooves in the wood itself and aligning all of our DC distribution points alongside those grooves. No bundles, no layers, no guessing what wire leads where. Simple, clear, powerful.
